I walked the other way from Zillis to Thusis & found there are lots of bridges, churches, ruined castles and rivers, gorges, etc. to see on this excellent route.

If you intend to use the Via Ferrata Angelino, do not follow the blue/white Alpine Hike signs as these take you to the top first and down-climbing is difficult. Instead, keep right on the Italian side until you are past the Baraghetto, then you will see the sign point back UP the grass slope to the start of the VF. NB: You MUST use proper VF/KS equipment as the traverse of 2-3m from ladder 2 to #3 is unsupported for the feet & you will likely have to use arm-strength alone to get across (KS4), t

Take boat from Luzern then funicular up to Bürgenstock Resort. Follow panorama signs & then up the Hammetschwand lift which is expensive but great views. From there hike back down & follow signs back along lake via forest to boat. Note path can be T3 in places due to rockfall.

In my opinion it is nice to take the hike up through the woods on the left then come down to the lake, go round, then go back by the standard path as this is less strenuous. The views of and from the lake are superb. The feeling of walking on such a large frozen lake is also interesting. :-)

You can go up either side to the starting point of the Pizol 5 Lakes Hike. Note that even though this is on the SBB discount pages it is not a hike for beginners (T2-3?). It is long and steep in places, worse if you go in the opposite direction. As it is quite high the weather can be bad at times (it's a ski resort after all). So only attempt this in summer in good weather, and take lots of water, etc. with you. Otherwise the views are great and 4 of the 5 lakes are lovely.
