Hike from Horgen across the Albis Range to Hausen a. Albis

Horgen Oberdorf - Sihlwald - Albishorn - Hausen a. Albis

The low range of mountains called the Albis Chain runs parallel to Lake Zurich on its West side, from Mt. Uetliberg in Zurich on the North end to Sihlbrugg near Baar at about the lake's halfway point to the South. The standard hiking trail called the Zurich-Zug Panorama Trail runs for 20km right across the top of this ridge, and is the subject for a different tour description.

There is another option to get to the top of Mount Albishorn which requires more ascent, namely the perpendicular trail from Horgen in the East via Sihltal Valley across the summit and down to Hausen a. Albis on the other side. This trail has an official Name: "Wildnisweg Sihlwald" and takes you through the Wilderness Park Zurich, the largest natural beech woodland in the central part of Switzerland. The 90-minute ascent to the summit is rewarded by panorama views across Lake Zurich on the one side and to Lake Zug and the Alps on the other, and over the wide range of the Wilderness Park.
