This hike from the Nufenen (Novena) Pass ending in All'Acqua in the Bedretto Valley offers some fantastic views into both the Obergoms Region of Wallis/Valais but mostly into the Bedretto Valley in Ticino.

The upper trail eastward into the valley takes you along a piece of the "Four Headwaters Trail", an 82-km themed trail that highlights the sources of four of Europe's major rivers: The Reuss, the Rhine, the Rhone and the Ticino. This particular region at the Nufenen Pass is where the Ticino River has its start, eventually entering the Po river near Pavia after flowing approx. 250 km through the canton of Ticino. The Nufenen Pass is also the geographic divider between Cantons Ticino and Valais.

The trail is mostly level mountain trail or comfortable downhill, and offers no particular difficulties. Before starting on the actual trail, you can get refreshments at the restaurant at the pass, or at the very least admire the view of the Griessee Glacier and dam just to the southeast, and the wind turbines which are the highest-altitude wind turbines in Europe. Directly westward is the Agene Valley which joins the pass to the perpendicular Goms Valley through which flows the young Rhone River. A good vantage point is also in the elevated area directly South of the parking lot.

Goal of this hike is the Pian Secco Hostel followed by a remarkably comfortable descent on a very good trail to All'Acqua. To add more variety to this hike, you can do a detour to the idyllic upper lake called "Lago delle Pigne", an approx. 40-minute detour off the main trail.
