This particular tour is a popular one because it is an easy 30-minute walk through the gorge, and to get to the top of the gorge is a pleasant walk through a wooded trail after a funicular ride from the city of Biel. Along the way are a couple of nice picnic areas with options to make campfires, so definitely a favourite for a family outing, expecially on a Sunday.

The gorge is full of waterfalls and waters slides, lush vegetation, with an interesting pedestrian walkway hewn out of the Jura Limestone. You emerge above the little vineyard town of Twann (most of the area here are vineyards) and from the town of Twann you can take a boat ride on Lake Biel to admire the coastline.

This is definitely an outing recommended for a hot summer day, as the air in the gorge is cool, and most of the rest of the walk is through the cool forest on the hill to the West of Lake Biel.
