Pleasant and not difficult hike in the Ibergeregg Nature Reserve from Hoch-Ybrig to Brunni at the foot of Mount Mythen.
The trail is called the "Ybriger 7-Egg Weg" because it passes through seven of the nicest view points in the Mythen region of Canton Schwyz, whose names end in "-egg", including Windegg, Sternenegg, Ibergeregg, Müsliegg, Stäglerenegg and finally Holzegg. But the best view point along the trail is the peak of Mt. Spirstock, from where you get 360 degree views North to the Zurich region, East across Hoch-Ybrig (popular ski area) and South across the entire Muotatal region. As you head westward, you have the magnificent panorama of Stoos, Fronalpstock, Lake Lucerne, Mt. Pilatus, Mt. Rigi and the two Mythen ahead of you.
The trail is not difficult as it covers ground mostly on wide roads (first three km are paved but the rest is over meadow, gravel or stone) with two stretches of mountain trail which may be muddy and slippery after a heavy rain. Besides the magnificent views along the way, there are plenty of restaurants to choose from. For those not wishing to do the final descent to Brunni, there is a small cable car from Holzegg.
An additional interesting feature of this hike is that the entire region between Spirstock and the Gross Mythen northwards to Lake Sihlsee is a protected nature reserve (Naturschutzgebiet Ibergeregg) and because of this, dogs must be on leash at all times.
First 3 km are on paved roads. This can be avoided by taking the chair lift to Sternen and walking along the ridge, then descending and ascending to Mt. Spirstock // Hoch Ybrig cable car = 14 Sfr. (GA not valid) and the chair lift to Sternen = 10 SFr. // The final section from Holzegg to Brunni can be very slippery after it has rained. Need to tread carefully or descend with the cable car. // NOTE: The entire area between Spirstock and Holzegg and to the North of there is a Nature Reserve and DOGS MUST BE ON LEASH
