Winter Walk to the Seebenalp on Mount Flumserberg

    Tannenbodenalp - Seebenalp - Tannenbodenalp

Mount Flumserberg is a popular ski region easily accessible by bus from Sargans or by cable gondola from Unterterzen on Lake Walensee. (The gondola ride is free for holders of the Swiss General Pass). There are many options for winter hikes on well-tended trails.

The easy 2.5-hour walk to the Seebenalp and back offers some pretty spectacular views of the Churfirsten Mountains and Lake Walensee. The wide trail passes through several forested areas and crosses or shares the ski slopes at a few points. After a fresh snowfall, the thickly decorated trees are particularly magical. Once arrived at the frozen Lake at Seebenalp, you can enjoy a meal or something to drink on the sunny terrace at the Seebenalp Restaurant, admiring the striking pyramid-shaped peak of the Sächsmoor on the other side of the lake.

On the way back down you get another taste of the jagged Churfirsten peaks in your field of view.
